For anyone planning a trip abroad, it may be daunting to decide where to begin: what city do I fly into? How long should I stay? Do I fly into Venice or Milan?
We spent 14 glorious days in Italy this July, 2022 and it had been a LONG time coming – the trip was postponed twice due to covid. As summer crept closer, we were ready to enjoy homemade pasta, relax in sun-kissed Tuscany and soak in and appreciate the deep history that Italy offers.
Because we were meeting up family in Florence, we settled on this itinerary:
- 3 Days in Venice
- 4 Days in Rome
- 5 Days in Florence
- 2 Days in Milan
But, to maximize a week in Italy I recommend:
- 2 Days in Venice
- 3 Days in Rome
- 2 Days in Florence
There is a high speed train that goes between all the cities in our full itinerary, which makes traveling in Italy a breeze.
